P.K.Pokker is a cultural critic and professor of philosophy. In 1981 the Kerala Public Service Commission selected him as the lecturer in philosophy and the Govt. of Kerala appointed him in the Govt. Brennen College, Thalassery. Later he moved to the Dept of Philosophy, University of Calicut in 1995. In 2006 December the Govt. of Kerala appointed him as the Director, State Institute of Languages, Thiruvananthapuram on deputation. From June 2011 he joined back the Dept of Philosophy. His first book, Aadhunikotharathayude Keraleeyaparisaram got Thayat Award for Literary criticism in 1997. The Kerala Sahitya academy award for scholarly literature was awarded for his book, Swathvavadam in 2009. The book, Derrida, Apanirmanathinte Darshanikan was selected as reference book for post graduate studies in various universities. His first became text for graduates in Malayalam language and literature. He is member of various academic and cultural bodies and an active member of the left progressive literary movement in Kerala. He edited Calicut University Research journal in Humanities (CURJ) and Marxian Darshanam(EMS Chair)
